We have spent the past week being ‘pinged’ by a Type 45 destroyer.
Ship calibration testing for local company SALT’s innovative sonar equipment has led to some interesting filming on a calm but bouncy-on-a-boat sea.
After spending the first few hours looking at a vessel that kept disappearing out of frame we decided to rig up an anti roll camera holder using a couple of bungee ties and . . . . yep it worked.
What didn’t work though was a GoPro fastened with a Magic arm to the sonar rig, when played back it looked like the (floating) rig was static and the boat and rest of the world was jumping about like a bouncy castle party!
Oh well nothing ventured nothing gained.
Looking forward to the next run
